My journey into design started when I wanted a career change, and I reflected on my experience in special education and my interest in following a more artistic path.
People are multi-faceted and while I had a desire to do something creative I also have enjoyed data collection and behavior analysis in my previous career as a Special Education teacher. I have found UI/UX design would be an interesting combination of creating user-friendly aesthetically pleasing products and understanding human needs and behaviors. I also remain interested in accessibility and applying my previous experience in designing instruction for a diverse group of learners to accessibility in design.
I currently reside in Montreal, Canada after living in Massachusetts and the beautiful island of Oahu, Hawaii. I received my Bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts studying liberal arts and psychology but I also started out as an art major. In some sense, I feel as though I am coming full circle now.
I love to travel and I have an ever-growing list of places that I want to visit someday. I also love to explore nature either through hiking or paddle boarding. After being immersed in Hawaiian culture for 7 years, I try to bring the "aloha spirit" with me everywhere I go.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know me. If you are so inclined, I'd like to get to know about you too! Feel free to send me an email through the bottom link on this page.
